movie in thewoods.”
But themoodof thefilm isanythingbut light fare.The imageof
the ideal couple,GeorgeandSerenaPembertonhaveapassionate
world that soon turnsgrittywhenSerena learnsshecannotbear
children.WhileLawrencesaysshewas inspiredbyCooper’spower-
ful portrayal, it isherperformance that ismaking itsmarkamong
thecritics. “Weplayacouplewho think that theycangetawaywith
anything, andwefindoutwecan’t.”
AsmatureasLawrence is forherage, she still possesses that
get-away-with-anythingattitude.And it servesherwell. She says
she ishappywith themovies she’sdone, saying she’s lucky tohave
