orning broke early
for thoseguests inBea-
ver Creek, Colorado,
who were geared up
and anxiously awaiting the 8:30 a.m.
clock-strike.That’swhen thechairlifts
opened.Trueskiersandsnowboarders
can’twait for thatmagicmoment: the
timewhen theyarerewarded for their
early-morning wake-up, having for-
goneany late-night festivities, cashing
in after dinner for an early-to-bed/
early-to-rise, first-tracks-of-the-day
experience.
Theygawkedattheliftworkersasthey
finalized thepreparatorymaintenance
operation. As 8:30 a.m. ticked closer,
they inched toward the roped-offareas
wheretheirliftticketswouldbescanned,
andwhere thechairwouldwhisk them
to the topof themountain.Then they’d
havefreereignbeforethe late-nightsect
awokeanddonnedtheirowngear.
But twoskiersandonesnowboarder
didn’t have towait. Theywereupeven
earlierthantheireagercontemporaries,
and theywerealreadyon themountain
at7:45a.m. for theveryfirst tracks.

Villa-Dorsey enjoyed the benefits of
theWhiteGloveFastTracksprogram,
and thuswere treated to sunrise from
atop theverymountains theyprepared
to ride down. The other two guests,
