MuscleShoals, allbutcallingout to
ClarksdaleandCleveland,Tennessee.
At firstglance, there’snotawhole lot
to lookat, stop forormakenoteof. It
looksbeatdown,usedup. Notempty
like theopenspacesof theWest,but
emptybecauseeverybodyclosedshop.
Theywerecottonpickersonce,until
themachinescame.So theymovedon.
But thecotton fieldsarestill there.
Occasionally they’re interrupted
