This was our second visit to Pizza Express Telford, the first being when they'd only been open a couple of weeks.
Please excuse my poor quality pictures as of course I couldn't exactly turn up with a proper big camera and the not surprisingly the lighting isn't set up for food photography - yes indeed I was the only person in the restaurant that was taking photos of the food!
To start I chose Leggera Gamberetti Piccante: Prawns in a passata sauce, with chilli flakes, garlic oil, spinach and santos tomatoes, finished with parsley.
We did part with a slice of each others pizza so we could try both and I must say it was hard to choose as they were both seriously yummy.
Were we both full to the brim but of course it would be rude of us not the review the dessert menu too wouldn't it?  So it was a Toffee Fudge Glory for me and a Chocolate Glory for Paul. The hole in the middle is filled with a fresh salad finished with their light house dressing and comes in at under 500 calories. A big thank you to Pizza Express for a great night out with fantastic service an top quality food.
To celebrate the arrival of Spring, PizzaExpress has launched a new menu which boasts classic Italian style and fashionable flavours, as well as a wider range of its low-calorie Leggera dishes which contain fewer than 500 calories. Rebecca Farrer, Brand Director at PizzaExpress said, “We’re constantly looking at food trends and have a fantastic collection of dishes this summer to suit all tastes. There are 10 new dishes including four new gluten-free options and a cheese-free pizza that is suitable for vegans. This classic Tuscan dish is just 217 calories and takes its cue for the Mediterranean approach to health. Fresh and light, this creamy white wine risotto contains delicious oak-roasted peppered salmon fillet with garlic and parsley.

Following on from the huge success of its Leggera Salmon Superfruit Salad, which launched as a special last September, this fresh and filling take on the vibrant dish contains just 444 calories. The latest edition to PizzaExpress’ Leggera range of skinny pizzas, which are all under 500 calories, is the Sloppy Giuseppe – meaning fans of this hugely popular pizza can enjoy their favourite toppings for just 450.
This fiery pizza is an eruption of colour and flavour thanks to an impactful combination of fresh ingredients. The ultimate pizza for mushroom fans, the Emilia is made with a generous serving of garlic- baked chestnut and closed cup mushrooms on a goat’s cheese and mozzarella base.
Fresh and earthy, the Pianta contains spinach, chestnut mushrooms, pine kernels and artichokes all on a spicy Arrabbiata base. Diet friendly desserts are a calorie-counter’s dream so, in addition to its fat free raspberry sorbet, PizzaExpress is introducing a zesty, light and refreshing Lemon Sorbet, which is perfect for summer. A classic, fruity dessert with sweet red berries this dish is an ideal way to finish a meal on a warm evening. Another classic dessert for the Spring and Summer months is this creamy vanilla bean Panna Cotta served with fresh strawberry and mint.

We were pleasantly surprised then at just how knowledgeable the staff were, explaining the different pizza bases and topping and for example, how you can choose to have none, more, or less of the different types of chillies to make your pizza to suit you. I went the other day and ate from the leggera options - very filling and I didn't feel as guilty! Full of fresh ingredients – Santos and vine tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, surfine capers, basil and garlic – bread croutons are mixed into the dish with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

It’s topped with rocket, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and served with a wedge of lemon.
It boasts mouth-watering salmon with a cracked black pepper crust, roasted yellow and red peppers, sweet baby onions, cucumber, avocado, rocket and seasonal mixed lives with mint, and it’s finished with chopped parsley and fresh lemon juice. Hot spiced beef, green peppers, red onion, tomato and light mozzarella top this truly delicious pizza.
It’s topped with tomato, chicken marinated with smoky chilli powder, roasted red and yellow peppers, roquito peppers, mozzarella, chilli flakes, grated Gran Moravia, parsley, chilli oil (for even more heat) and is served on a passata base. It’s finished with rocket, fresh lemon and black truffle oil, which gives its addictive flavour. It’s cheese free so this is the first PizzaExpress pizza that has been created specifically to be suitable for vegans. It’s finished with mint and a dark chocolate straw it comes as a full size dessert (167 calories) or as Dolcetti (84 calories) – PizzaExpress’ range of mini desserts served with coffee.
