After evaluating all shows we made the tough decision to take a break from the West Coast in 2015.
George Vondriska, influenced by an exceptional junior high shop teacher, has been doing woodworking for decades. Chuck Bender has built period furniture designs for some of the finest homes and collections in the country.
Glen Huey has nearly thirty years of woodworking experience, and focuses on 18th- and early 19th-century furniture designs. Barry Gross is an artist and author who puts the fun back into turning by making it approachable and enjoyable. Growing up in Wainfleet, Ontario Ethan was surrounded on all sides by the woodworking industry. The Woodworking Shows has lined up a bunch of the best woodworking presenters in the country, and along with a great line-up of tool vendors the season has, and will continue to be a blockbuster event!
I know there are lots of folks who wonder why they should attend a woodworking tool show when there is plentiful information about tools and woodworking methods readily available on the web. Below you will find the map of show locations as well as the The Woodworking Show schedule with details.
Woodworking’s most innovative and exciting trade event of 2015 brings the future into focus—and the picture’s better than ever!
The Turning to the Future competition was developed by the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the art and craft of woodturning worldwide, and AWFS®, the largest national trade association in the U.S. The American Association of Woodturners (AAW) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, headquartered in Saint Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to advancing the art and craft of woodturning worldwide by offering opportunities for education, information, inspiration, and community to those interested in turning wood. The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers® (AWFS), founded in 1911, is a non-profit organization that wholly owns and produces the biennial AWFS®Fair.
Lush was awarded a coveted, custom veneer-marquetry sculpture made by master craftsman Paul Schurch, for his shelf Gravity (pictured left).  This was the first year for the new trophy, which will feature a sculpture made by a different woodworking artist each year.

Fair attendees awarded the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Wagner Meters, and a $500 prize to Werner Pyka from Palomar College, for his Quint-Essential federal-style gaming table (pictured right), which also won First Place in the Post-Secondary tables category. The biennial event, held as part of AWFS®Fair, attracted 169 entries from 44 different schools in the United States and Canada in 2015, which represents a 30% increase in entries from the previous competition in 2013. Make sure and download the FREE ultimate show guide for AWFS Fair 2015—the official mobile app. Find out what is happening at the show. Everything from seminars to competitions, speakers, exhibitors and who our special guest speaker is . While we share in our West Coast Audience's disappointment the decision was based on increased costs and lower than expected show performance in 2013 & 2014.
At each show the 360 WoodWorking team (Glen Huey, Bob Lang & Chuck Bender) demonstrates a variety of techniques that take the stand from design through construction to finish.
If you're looking to learn how to create your own one of a kind pen make sure to catch Barry's seminars happening daily at every Woodworking Show. He has been contributing editor for Fine Woodworking since 2002, where he is a frequent writer of tool-test articles and a road warrior for The Woodworking Shows. He shares his woodworking knowledge as a teacher, writer, editor and video host in addition to being a master craftsman for thirty years. He is an editor, author and writer who has the ability to turn complicated techniques into easy to follow steps.
Much of Ron's woodworking knowledge comes from his progression through a formal apprenticeship to attain the rank of Master. His mother sewed his first shop apron for him when he was six years old and he has never been far from tools and sawdust since. With a tool inventor as a father it's no surprise that he naturally became sensitive to the needs of woodworkers. For the products, equipment, tools and solutions that will propel your business forward, attend AWFS®Fair 2017, July 19 – 22 in Las Vegas.
