William Louis Gaume was born on September 10, 1907 in Glenmont, Holmes County, Ohio. He was the son of Emil Gaume and Flora Kaufman. He was baptized on September 10, 1916 in St. Louis Church, Louisville, Stark County, Ohio. He married Ruth Castor on December 27, 1928 in Glenmont.
Obituary: "William L. Gaume of 1462 Cleveland Ave NW, a veteran of World War II, died last Wednesday night in Mercy Hospital. He was 40 and his death followed a long illness. During the war he was a staff sergeant and saw nearly three years of service. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jane Neely Gaume; a daughter Jacqueline and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Holmes of New Kensington, PA and Mrs. Claren Rector of Canton. The body was at theWhitticar funeral home. Services were held Saturday morning in St. LouisCatholic Church." [Source: Louisville Herald, March 17, 1949]
