We'll have a real gallery here soon, but until then here are some links to some photos of Mexico:
Ajijic:
- Looking Glass: Do you ever wonder what strange and wonderful worlds might be hidden behind a door, or a wall?
- School of Dead: Schools in Mexico are different than schools in Canada. These engravings are on the outside of a nearby school, and there are hundreds of them. What do they mean?
- Rainbow Two-tone: I really think I could make a successful project out of the two-tone photos I've taken.
- Proud, but not too proud to beg: I've had dogs beg for food (in France), cats beg for food (in Cuba), and now a rooster and a chicken beg for food in Mexico. He was adorable.
- Black and White Two-tone: I like this one too.
- Magic: Just a random, amazing, mural. After taking this photo I had a strange urge to watch Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" video -- it's either the worst thing on the internet or the best thing.
- Butterscotch: Let's see, I'd like two scoops of vanilla and... yes, butterscotch topping, please.
- Rain Falling on Distant Mountains: I'd like to build a cabin in this valley and watch the rain fall on the mountains.
- Dragonfly: We went for a hike and this dragonfly waited patiently for me to take its photo.
- The Allegory of the Cave: Written by Plato 2,500 years ago, I would say it's never been more true than now.
- Electric Meter on a Wall in Mexico: I think this is one of the best photos I've taken in months, perhaps in a whole year.
- Negative Space: If one is going to waste some bits, one should go ahead and waste as many as possible.
- Big Bird: Maybe it's related to a heron. Vancouver has a lot of Great Blue Herons and they're practically tame.
- Which Came First?: The purple wall or the purple flowers?
- El Dia de Muertos: On the Day of the Dead all the skulls decorating a local school had candles attached and then lit after the sun set.
- The Goat with the Most: We visited a goat farm that has about thirty goats which are used to make milk, yoghurt, and cheese.
- Bobby?: I think this little goat's name is Bobby. He was very well behaved and quite fun to hold. But his hooves were very dirty.
- Goats Are Terrible at Meetings: I wish I could remember what tree those branches are from because those goats just loved them.
- Cemetary: A shrine (if that's the correct word in the context of Catholicism) in Ajijic's cemetary.
- Air Plants: It's a common misconception that air plants can grow in the air. In fact, they need something to attach to; powerlines will do just fine.
- Lake Chapala: Sarah and I went to the town of Chapala for a big outdoor art show. It was filled with some pretty amazing works for quite low prices. The Lake is at a very high level, nearly flood level. The birds were accidental, but I like them.
- Your Funny Caption Here: I don't even remember taking this photo but I'm glad that I did!
- Lake Chapala Society: The grounds of the Society are quite extensive and feature this pond. The fish almost look like Koi, but I'm not sure.
- Zombie Apocalypse: Not even Canada is safe from the coming plague.
- Picture Window: Sort of abstract... It's a tent's translucent window and Lake Chapala beyond.
- Creation Myth: (Not exactly safe for work.) A portion of beautiful mural on the side of a building. I think it depicts how the volcanoes give life to all people.
- Mousehole: Definitely one of my favorite photos. Expect to see it in the Vancouver Art Gallery soon.
- Cat/Yarn: I'm not confident that I know where the cat stops and the yarn begins.
- Tequila Tour: Sarah and I went on a Tequila Tour... to the actual town of Tequila. It was pretty interesting and we got to try so very, very, many types of tequila. I ended up buying a bottle of Tamarind & Chile flavored tequila.
- Pineapple: This mural at the tequila-ry (?) shows an man harvesting the blue agaves for their "pineapples", which are then roasted, shredded, fermented, and distilled.
