Portia
Portia was a stray from a Modesto area shelter, so nothing is known of her background. She is about a year old and has had a litter of puppies at some point in her past. She weighs about 50 lbs, but could use a few pounds added to her petite frame. Her leash and house manners are good and she's sleeping through the night in a crate. Portia has to be lifted into the car but once in rides nicely.
Living in a foster home with three other German Shepherds and four cats, she has settled in easily. Portia does not want to play with the other dogs and growled and snapped at the big male who thinks all foster dogs are his play toys. This is the only time she has asserted herself. She eats in the same room with the other dogs and there are no food aggression issues.
Overall, Portia is shy and runs away from loud voices. She would do best in a quiet home with the patience to allow her to blossom at her own pace. She is food motivated, which will aid in further training and confidence building. It is unknown how she would do with children, small dogs or little critters, but she is fine with cats.
