More Information About Matthews, NC
Matthews is a town in southeastern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It is a suburb of Charlotte. The population was 27,198 according to the 2010 Census.
In the early 19th century, the early settlement that would become Matthews was unofficially named Stumptown for the copious amount of tree stumps left from making way for cotton farms. The community’s name later changed to Fullwood, named after appointed area postmaster John Miles Fullwood. The establishment of a sawmill and the cotton and timber industry helped Fullwood change into a town. Prior to the first train arriving on December 15, 1874, Fullwood acted as a stagecoach stop between Charlotte and Monroe. The town was incorporated into a municipal corporation in 1879 and was renamed Matthews for Edward Watson Matthews, a prominent resident, and director of the Central Carolina Railroad, which would later become known as the Seaboard Air Line Railroad.[5][6]
The Seaboard Air Line fell into Seaboard On July 1, 1967. Seaboard then merged with Chessie System to create CSX (Chessie Seaboard X)

If your opener does not have a similar security reversing feature, it’s time to get a new opener. The Six-Inch Rule. The image eyes mentioned above must not be set up greater than 6 inches above the garage floor. If the eyes are set up higher, an individual or family pet could get under the beam and not be detected by the image eyes.
The wall push button for your garage door opener must be installed a minimum of 5 feet above the floor, out of the reach of kids. Running under a closing door can be a fatal game. Teach your kids never to have fun with opening and closing the door. Do You Know Where Your Remote Controls Are? For the reasons simply pointed out, keep the remote controls for your openers where children can not play with them.
For security factors, make certain to keep your remote controls locked up. If you park a vehicle outside your garage, be sure to lock your cars and truck so that potential intruders can not access your push-button control and gain easy access to your garage. Rolling Codes. Some burglars are able to “tape-record” your transmitter’s signal.
However, if your transmitter (the remote control) has rolling code technology, the code changes after every use. This renders the burglars’ controls ineffective. Contact your garage door opener maker or your regional garage door dealership to find out more. SCREENING AND PRESERVING THE GARAGE DOOR OPENERConsult the owner’s manual for additional advised maintenance for your design of door opener.

Turnaround TestMake sure your opener has a reversing function. If a reversing feature is not present, the opener needs to be replaced. Garage door openers made after January 1, 1993, are needed by federal law to have actually advanced safety functions that comply with the current UL (Underwriters Laboratories) 325 requirements. Contact your producer or installer for extra information.
Test the reversing function monthly. Initially, test the balance of the door. If the door is effectively balanced, then continue. 2. With the door completely open, position a 1-1/2″ thick piece of wood (a 2″ X 4″ laid flat) on the floor in the center of the door. 3.
The door should reverse when it strikes the obstruction. (Note that the bottom part of “one-piece doors” need to be rigid so that the door will not close, but will reverse when it contacts the obstruction.) 4. If the door does not reverse, have it fixed or changed. Have actually a certified specialist change, fix, or replace the opener or door.
If the door does not reverse easily, the force setting may be excessive and need adjusting. See your owner’s handbook for details on how to make the change. Extra Security DevicesMany garage door openers can be geared up with extra safety gadgets, such as image eyes or edge sensing units, to secure against entrapment.

Ensure the extra security gadgets are effectively installed and adjusted (see owner’s manual). TESTING AND MAINTAINING THE GARAGE DOORPerform routine upkeep actions once a month. Evaluation your owner’s handbook for the garage door. If you do not have a handbook, look for the design number on the back of the door, or inspect the lock manage, hinges, or other hardware for the manufacturer’s name and demand a manual from the manufacturer.
If you suspect problems, have a certified individual make repair work. Garage door springs, cable televisions, brackets, and other hardware connected to the springs are under really high stress and, if managed incorrectly, can cause serious injury. Only a qualified expert or a mechanically skilled person must change them, but just by carefully following the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Do not attempt to repair or adjust torsion springs yourself. A limiting cable television or other device need to be installed on the extension spring (the spring along the side of the door) to help contain the spring if it breaks. Never get rid of, change, or loosen up the screws on the bottom brackets of the door.
Regularly lube the moving parts of the door. Nevertheless, do not lubricate plastic idler bearings. Seek advice from the door owner’s manual for the maker’s recommendation. Door BalancePeriodically test the balance of your door. Start with the door closed. If you have a garage door opener, utilize the release system so you can operate the door by hand when doing this test.
It ought to remain open around three or four feet above the flooring. If it does not, it runs out adjustment. Have it changed by a qualified service person.
