More Information About Burke, VA
Burke is an unincorporated section of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States traditionally defined as the area served by the Burke post office (Zip Code 22015). Burke includes two census-designated places: The Burke CDP, population 41,055 in 2010[3] and the Burke Centre CDP, population 17,326.
Burke is named after Silas Burke (1796–1854), a 19th-century farmer, merchant, and local politician who built a house on a hill overlooking the valley of Pohick Creek in approximately 1824. The house still stands.[4] When the Orange and Alexandria Railroad was constructed in the late 1840s, the railroad station at the base of that hill was named “Burke’s Station” after Burke, who owned the land in the area and donated a right-of-way to the railroad company. The community that grew up around the railroad station acquired a post office branch in 1852. The railroad tracks located on the same historical line are owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway and form part of the Manassas line of the Virginia Railway Express commuter rail system, which has two stations (Rolling Road and Burke Centre) in the Burke area. The original Burke Station building can still be seen in the community, turned 90 degrees from its historical footprint.[5]

If the eyes are installed higher, a person or pet could get under the beam and not be found by the picture eyes.
The wall push button for your garage door opener need to be installed a minimum of five feet above the floor, out of the reach of children. Running under a closing door can be a lethal game. Teach your children never to have fun with opening and closing the door. Do You Know Where Your Remote Controls Are? For the factors simply discussed, keep the push-button controls for your openers where kids can not have fun with them.
For security factors, make certain to keep your remote controls locked up. If you park an automobile outside your garage, be sure to lock your cars and truck so that possible burglars can not access your remote control and gain simple access to your garage. Rolling Codes. Some burglars are able to “tape-record” your transmitter’s signal.
Nevertheless, if your transmitter (the push-button control) has rolling code innovation, the code changes after every use. This renders the thieves’ controls ineffective. Contact your garage door opener producer or your regional garage door dealership for additional information. TESTING AND MAINTAINING THE GARAGE DOOR OPENERConsult the owner’s manual for additional recommended maintenance for your design of door opener.
Turnaround TestMake sure your opener has a reversing function. If a reversing function is not present, the opener should be replaced. Garage door openers manufactured after January 1, 1993, are needed by federal law to have advanced security features that comply with the most recent UL (Underwriters Laboratories) 325 requirements. Contact your producer or installer for additional info.
Check the reversing function monthly. First, test the balance of the door. If the door is correctly balanced, then proceed. 2. With the door fully open, put a 1-1/2″ thick piece of wood (a 2″ X 4″ laid flat) on the floor in the center of the door. 3.
The door should reverse when it strikes the obstruction. (Note that the bottom part of “one-piece doors” need to be rigid so that the door will not close, but will reverse when it contacts the obstruction.) 4. If the door does not reverse, have it repaired or replaced. Have actually a qualified technician change, fix, or replace the opener or door.
If the door does not reverse easily, the force setting may be extreme and need adjusting. See your owner’s manual for information on how to make the modification. Extra Security DevicesMany garage door openers can be equipped with extra security devices, such as photo eyes or edge sensors, to secure versus entrapment.
Make sure the extra security devices are effectively installed and adjusted (see owner’s manual). SCREENING AND MAINTAINING THE GARAGE DOORPerform routine upkeep actions as soon as a month. Evaluation your owner’s manual for the garage door. If you do not have a handbook, look for the model number on the back of the door, or examine the lock manage, hinges, or other hardware for the maker’s name and demand a handbook from the maker.
If you presume problems, have actually a certified individual make repairs. Garage door springs, cables, brackets, and other hardware connected to the springs are under extremely high tension and, if dealt with improperly, can cause serious injury. Only a qualified professional or a mechanically skilled person should change them, however just by carefully following the producer’s directions.
Do not attempt to repair or adjust torsion springs yourself. A restraining cable television or other device ought to be installed on the extension spring (the spring along the side of the door) to help contain the spring if it breaks. Never ever get rid of, change, or loosen the screws on the bottom brackets of the door.
Routinely lubricate the moving parts of the door. Nevertheless, do not lubricate plastic idler bearings. Speak with the door owner’s handbook for the manufacturer’s suggestion. Door BalancePeriodically test the balance of your door. Start with the door closed. If you have a garage door opener, use the release system so you can operate the door by hand when doing this test.
It should remain open around 3 or 4 feet above the flooring. If it does not, it is out of change. Have it changed by a qualified service person.
