More Information About High Springs, FL
High Springs is a city in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,350 at the 2010 census.[5]
The present-day area of High Springs was first settled on a permanent basis by English-speaking people during the late 1830s. One of the earliest settlements in the vicinity was at Crockett Springs, located about three miles east of present-day High Springs. Settlers who were living there during the 1840s included Fernando Underwood and Marshal Blanton. A discernible town began to develop in the early 1880s after the Savannah, Florida & Western Railway was constructed and several phosphate mines were established. In 1888 the local post office changed its name from Orion to High Springs, and the town was officially incorporated in 1892.[6] The town had a population over 1,500 at the end of the 1890s and was the second largest by population in the county.[7]

Determining springs can be hard; most people, even garage door specialists, in some cases have difficulty measuring torsion springs. Ordering incorrect springs lose time and money. If you are not sure if your door had the right springs, we advise that you weigh your door utilizing an analog scale. From my own field experience I would estimate that a minimum of 10% of the doors have the inaccurate springs on them. We like to improve the garage door balance. A 3rd choice is to figure out the door size and design number. After you gather the needed information you can purchase garage door springs.

Top Before beginning on the replacement, it is important that we start these instructions with our sternest caution: CARE! Changing garage door torsion springs is hazardous due to the fact that the springs are under stress. You might also harm property. We want your organisation, but not at the expense of your well being. Getting the job done right is your responsibility. If you have any doubts about your capability to securely alter your springs, we suggest you employ an expert to repair your garage door. Security First! Then work. In spite of my high mechanical ability, even after 18 years in the trade I lost the end of my left forefinger. A few years later I had 5 stitches in my ideal thumb, and a year later on five stitches in my left thumb. In 2004 emergency clinic personnels dug steel out of my eye and sewed up my ring finger with 8 stitches. I am not so ignorant regarding believe that I have made my last trip to the emergency clinic. Repairing garage doors, particularly changing torsion springs, threatens work, whether you are a diy house owner or a skilled service technician. It is impossible to cover every unsafe situation you may encounter. Pay unique attention to the warnings that appear in red.
ATTENTION! Due to harmful actions listed below that can result in physical injury, we advise that you thoroughly study all the directions below prior to starting your work. 2.1 2 crucial assumptions will help you perform this replacement safely. Initially, assume that the springs are going to break as you unwind or wind them. Keep clothing and body parts away from the springs. Wear safety glasses. 2.2 Second, presume that the cone will slip or explode as you relax and wind the spring. Keep your go out of the path of the winding cone. Keep your hands away from the cones so that if and when the winding bar slips out of the cone and your hand jerks up, the cone doesn’t rip your flesh or wrap your clothes and body parts into the spring. These older Crawford and Mc Kee torsion spring cones were produced 5/8 “bars. In some cases, nevertheless, the holes are too small for 5/8” bars. Whatever you do, do not use a 1/2 “bar; instead, grind down a 5/8″ bar to fit. I recently had a Mc Kee spring let loose after winding due to the fact that I used a 1/2″ bar when my 5/8” bar wouldn’t fit. The only safe method to change these older springs is to make.
a winding bar for each hole of each cone. 2.4 The exact same holds true of Older Overhead, Bar Col and Raynor torsion springs that have winding cones with irregular hole sizes. If you place a 1/2 “X 18” bar in a few of these holes you can move the opposite end of the bar over 4 inches. I’ve had a lot of the older cones spin loose from my bars, the last one producing an$ 1800 emergency clinic costs.
If your cones resemble any of these, or if they have more than 2″ of play, leave the job of setting up torsion springs to an expert garage door mechanic. Some older openers are hardwired and you will need to eliminate a fuse or turn the circuit breaker. 2.6 Disengage the opener from the door. Some garage door openers have a neutral position for the trolley disconnect. On older openers you may need to remove the L-shaped drawbar arm. We do not recommend changing torsion springs with the garage door open. Stretching the springs the width of eight or nine coils is difficult, and leveling the garage door can likewise be challenging. Back to Top Collect the products and tools required for altering the springs safely. In addition to the torsion springs you’ll need a minimum of one or two 10″ vise grips, an adjustable wrench, and 2 1/2″ X 18″ winding bars.
