More Information About High Springs, FL
High Springs is a city in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,350 at the 2010 census.[5]
The present-day area of High Springs was first settled on a permanent basis by English-speaking people during the late 1830s. One of the earliest settlements in the vicinity was at Crockett Springs, located about three miles east of present-day High Springs. Settlers who were living there during the 1840s included Fernando Underwood and Marshal Blanton. A discernible town began to develop in the early 1880s after the Savannah, Florida & Western Railway was constructed and several phosphate mines were established. In 1888 the local post office changed its name from Orion to High Springs, and the town was officially incorporated in 1892.[6] The town had a population over 1,500 at the end of the 1890s and was the second largest by population in the county.[7]

Measuring springs can be hard; most people, even garage door specialists, in some cases have problem measuring torsion springs. Ordering incorrect springs lose time and cash. If you are not exactly sure if your door had the right springs, we suggest that you weigh your door utilizing an analog scale. From my own field experience I would estimate that at least 10% of the doors have the incorrect springs on them. We like to improve the garage door balance. A 3rd option is to figure out the door size and design number. After you collect the required information you can purchase garage door springs.

Leading Before getting going on the replacement, it is vital that we begin these guidelines with our sternest warning: CARE! Changing garage door torsion springs threatens because the springs are under stress. You might also damage property. We desire your service, but not at the cost of your well being. Doing the task right is your duty. If you have any doubts about your capability to safely alter your springs, we suggest you work with a professional to repair your garage door. Security First! Then work. In spite of my high mechanical ability, even after 18 years in the trade I lost the end of my left forefinger. A couple of years later I had 5 stitches in my best thumb, and a year later on 5 stitches in my left thumb. In 2004 emergency space personnels dug steel out of my eye and stitched up my ring finger with eight stitches. I am not so naive regarding think that I have made my last trip to the emergency situation space. Fixing garage doors, particularly replacing torsion springs, threatens work, whether you are a diy homeowner or a knowledgeable technician. It is difficult to cover every dangerous scenario you might come across. Pay special attention to the warnings that appear in red.
ATTENTION! Due to unsafe actions listed below that can result in bodily injury, we suggest that you thoroughly study all the directions listed below prior to beginning your work. 2.1 Two essential presumptions will help you execute this replacement securely. Initially, presume that the springs are going to break as you unwind or wind them. Keep clothing and body parts away from the springs. Use safety glasses. 2.2 Second, presume that the cone will slip or take off as you loosen up and wind the spring. Keep your go out of the path of the winding cone. Keep your hands far from the cones so that if and when the winding bar slips out of the cone and your hand jerks up, the cone does not rip your flesh or cover your clothes and body parts into the spring. These older Crawford and Mc Kee torsion spring cones were made for 5/8 “bars. Sometimes, however, the holes are too small for 5/8” bars. Whatever you do, do not use a 1/2 “bar; instead, grind down a 5/8″ bar to fit. I recently had a Mc Kee spring let loose after winding due to the fact that I used a 1/2″ bar when my 5/8” bar would not fit. The only safe method to replace these older springs is to make.
a winding bar for each hole of each cone. 2.4 The very same holds true of Older Overhead, Bar Col and Raynor torsion springs that have winding cones with inconsistent hole sizes. If you place a 1/2 “X 18” bar in a few of these holes you can move the opposite end of the bar over 4 inches. I have actually had much of the older cones spin loose from my bars, the last one creating an$ 1800 emergency situation space bill.
If your cones resemble any of these, or if they have more than 2″ of play, leave the task of installing torsion springs to a professional garage door mechanic. Some older openers are hardwired and you will need to remove a fuse or flip the breaker. 2.6 Disengage the opener from the door. Some garage door openers have a neutral position for the trolley detach. On older openers you may need to eliminate the L-shaped drawbar arm. We do not recommend replacing torsion springs with the garage door open. Extending the springs the width of 8 or 9 coils is hard, and leveling the garage door can also be challenging. Back to Leading Collect the supplies and tools required for changing the springs securely. In addition to the torsion springs you’ll require a minimum of a couple of 10″ vise grips, an adjustable wrench, and 2 1/2″ X 18″ winding bars.
