Amend CSHB 1106 (house committee report) as follows:
\r\n (1) On page 1, line 5, strike "Subdivision (1-a) and amending Subdivision (4)" and substitute "Subdivisions (1-a) and (4-a)".
\r\n (2) Strike page 1, line 13, through page 4, line 19, and substitute the following:
\r\n (4-a) "Neglect" does not include the refusal by a person responsible for a child\'s care, custody, or welfare to affirm:
\r\n (A) a child\'s perception of the child\'s gender, including a refusal to use a child\'s preferred name or pronouns, regardless of whether the child\'s name has been legally changed; or
\r\n (B) a child\'s expressed sexual orientation.
\r\n (3) Add the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:
\r\n SECTION ____. Subchapter A, Chapter 261, Family Code, is amended by adding Section 261.0011 to read as follows:
\r\n Sec. 261.0011. EXPIRATION OF DEFINITIONS. Sections 261.001(1-a) and (4-a) and this section expire September 1, 2030.
