A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to monetary assistance provided by the Department of |
|
Family and Protective Services to certain parental child safety |
|
placement caregivers. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 264.908. CAREGIVER ASSISTANCE AGREEMENTS. (a) The |
|
department shall, subject to the availability of funds, enter into |
|
a caregiver assistance agreement under Section 264.755 with a |
|
caregiver who has a family income that is less than or equal to 300 |
|
percent of the federal poverty level who enters into a parental |
|
child safety placement to provide monetary assistance to the |
|
caregiver for the duration of the parental child safety placement. |
|
(b) The department shall provide written notice to the |
|
parental child safety placement caregiver about the availability of |
|
and eligibility requirements for monetary assistance under this |
|
section at the earlier of the date: |
|
(1) the parental child safety placement agreement is |
|
signed; or |
|
(2) the child is placed with the caregiver. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
