On October 6th, Fjord will be taking over the Padilla house to give Noah a kickass space!
NOAH is a 12-year-old boy living with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS), a connective tissue disorder affecting every system in his body. He had his first open heart surgery when he was only 9 months old and his second one was just 3 years ago. Throughout his life he has had 7 surgeries and there are more lined up. As you can imagine, it is terrifying for him to have to think about his health and future operations. Noah needs a space to go to when he needs to escape and focus on the things that make him happy.
That’s where Special Spaces comes in. Special Spaces is a nonprofit organization that creates dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening medical conditions. They have helped hundreds of children across the country by teaming up with folks who are willing to donate resources, make a plan, and get their hands dirty. Special Spaces puts all of the pieces together to make sure the children truly get the surprise of their lifetime on build day.
A team of designers at FJORD have decided to put our skills to use on behalf of Noah, a fellow maker and our new hero. The team has a plan to design and build the space of Noah’s dreams, but we need YOU to make it a reality. We have ambitious goals to make sure Noah gets the coolest room imaginable! A room where he can show off his photography, discover new technologies, and be inspired by his favorite music. But why stop there? Because let’s be honest, this takes a toll on the entire family. We will be making sure his three brothers get special spaces too! It won’t be easy, which is why the team is counting on our fellow designers and makers, friends, families, and community members, to make it all possible for Noah and his family.
Don't fret! Special Spaces has chapters all over the U.S. Put a team together and change a kid's life!
