Many Christians struggle when they feel God delays in answering their prayers. They wonder why He has not
touched them yet. They wonder why He does not heal them. Many pray in faith for a little while and then they
get burned out. They lose the faith to pray. They experience “false breakthroughs,” where they thought they
were healed only to find out their healing did not last. This leads to “hope deferred.” They lose hope that God
will break in. Sometimes they even lose their ability to pray. As the proverbs say, “Hope deferred makes the
heart grow sick…” They feel heartsick. This was the situation Martha and Mary found themselves in after they
believed Jesus would not let their brother die. They stood on a promise from God, and they were disappointed.
Ultimately they discovered this truth: Sometimes God would rather resurrect you than heal you. Jesus did not
heal their brother because He wanted to resurrect him. Through Lazarus resurrection, He built the faith of
everyone around him. Jesus was so compassionate that he even mourned with Martha and Mary while their
faith was weak. Ultimately, Jesus showed them the strength of His resurrection power.

An overview of the entire Bible will help you grasp the Bible when you study it on your own. You understand
the parts when you understand the whole. You can understand the book of John best when you fully understand
the entire book of Bible. Think about it like this. Imagine you were in a time machine and you were speaking
to someone who lived 400 years ago. The only thing you took with you was a hubcap. When you met this
person from 400 years ago, they asked you what you were holding. You told them it was a hubcap. They were
even more confused. What would you do next? Before you explain what a hubcap was, you would have to
explain what a car was. They could only fully understand the part, the hubcap after they understood the whole,
a car. In same way, we cannot understand what a chapter of the Bible means until we have some understanding
of what the entire Bible means. So often, we try to understand the hubcap, a chapter or verse, before we
understand the whole, the entire Bible.

These are days in which we
cannot afford to be easily swayed by the waves of public opinion and the winds
of false doctrine. Prophetic days require an inner strength that only a deep
personal and intimate relationship with Christ can give; a strong rooted
foundation that only the word of God can provide. Those who have ears to hear,
let them hear what the Spirit of God is saying to the church. We are to be
strong in the Lord and in the power of God’s might, remaining faithful till the
end.
