Last week our focus was on God’s blessing for 2018. Today we are building on that same theme and posing the question, what does it mean for the Lord to “keep you”?    Our Bible devotion today by Pastor Brian McVitty at Celebration Church, Barrie will focus on the opening of the Gospels. Quite often we just gloss over the opening words of the Gospels. Today we will dig down and see that the authors choose the opening words of their Gospels carefully and deliberately and have hidden important clues which will aid us in celebrating the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
   We have a great song for you by Mercy Me with their version of “Angels we have heard on High” which they have titled “Gloria”. Plus a carol by Pentetonix’s with their version of “O Come All Ye Faithful”.

Name of Jesus #4 - Healing in Jesus’ Name - December 10, 2017

You cannot read thru the Gospels and not be impressed by all the healing that Jesus does. And as we look towards the second coming of Jesus in glory -- that is when all disease will be banished and we will know full healing and restoration. We are beginning a series called “IN THE NAME OF JESUS”
In the Bible we read of people who are: baptized in the name of Jesus; saved in the name of Jesus; that we are to pray in the name of Jesus; that we are to heal in the name of Jesus; andthat we bless in the name of Jesus. All in the name of Jesus!!

Remembrance Day Sunday: Today we have a special show for Remembrance Day weekend. We are pleased to welcome to the show today Member of Parliament John Brassard and Barrie Mayor - Jeff Lehman. Last spring Mayor Jeff Lehman along with Canadian Forces Base Borden honorary Colonel Jamie Massie attended the special 100th anniversary at Vimy Ridge in France. We have asked Mayor Lehman to share a brief reflection on his time there.

All Saints Day and Reformation 500 Day: Today we have a special show for All Saints Day Sunday and to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. it is exactly 500 years since the Reformation began when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of All Saints church in the German town of Wittenburgh.
The five great declarations of the Reformation have been:
Sola Scriptura -- by Scripture alone
Sola Fides -- by Faith alone
Sola Gratia -- by Grace alone
Sola Christus -- by Christ alone
Soli Deo Gloria -- To the glory of God alone!

Job #7 - Transformation - October 22, 2017

In this series I had hoped to explore some of the parallels between the musical Les Mis and the Book of Job. Both of the stories are filled with heartache. Let’s play a clip near the beginning of Les Mis. Jean Valjean, played in the movie by Hal Jackman, has been caught stealing the Bishop’s silver. He is about to be sent back to jail, but the Bishop insists that it was all a gift and forgives him. This is the epiphany moment when grace breaks forth and Jean Valjean knows real forgiveness.

That moment of forgiveness is the moment of transformation for Jean Valjean. In the Book of Job it its the appearance of God that changes the heart of Job and his friends. Today we are plunging into the middle of the Book of Job. This is when it seems the bleakest for Job; even hope seems to be vanishing. We are going to dedicate today’s message to all those who are in the midst of a terrible situation. We pray thast all of us will be able to speak hope where hope seems to be lost. Job #4 - His Tormentors - October 1st, 2017

I recently heard an interview with Sheryl Sandburg an executive at Facebook. Her husband died while they were on holiday in Mexico. Reflecting on her experience of grief, she says, “We have put grief, adversity, cancer, illness, job loss, sexual assault, all this stuff that people face, in a big old closet," she says. "And people want it IN the closet because it’s easier. People are uncomfortable talking about this. The No. 1 thing everyone I know who’s gotten cancer has said about this, is that no one talks about it. You want to silence a room? Say you were just diagnosed with cancer, or say you had cancer five years ago. People freeze."
This morning we are going to learn to do better than this, to do better than the friends that surrounded Job and who added to his torment. Here is Pastor Brian McVitty at Celebration Church Barrie with "Job's Friends".

Canada Day 2017 – For this Canada Day wknd we have a special edition of our show as we give thanks for this wonderful country of Canada! Our special guests this morning are: Mayor Jeff Lehman and Member of Parliament, John Brassard, as well as special music – all with a focus on Canada 150!

We often hear that there is to be a separation of church and state. Let’s be clear that the separation of church and state is an American concept and was not in the minds of the men and women who established this country 150 years ago and who laid the values which guided this country.
