For 33 years, the Thoro Products dumped cancer-causing chlorinated solvents into groundwater flowing beneath the business. It created a half-mile-wide toxic plume. On March 30, 2001 - One of the longest prison sentences ever imposed for an environmental crime was sharply reduced in a ruling that may halt prosecution of certain hazardous-waste dumping. The Colorado Court of Appeals, in cutting the penalty against Arvada-based Thoro Products and its president, said the “troubling result” of its ruling on future cases could be avoided if lawmakers rewrite state law. Thoro Products was fined $950,000 and company chief Richard Newman sentenced [...]

As police stood by and watch as the events in Charlottesville, violence that would be blamed on “both sides”, and hate that would be defended by the president of the United States because “they had a permit”, one cannot help but to ask the question of institutional racism with in police departments around the US. Contrasting photos from Ferguson or Standing Rock North Dakota with Charlottesville and one can see a stark difference in the amount of armored vehicles not present during the KKK demonstrations in Virginia. We Do The Work Debut episode! Music by Dropkick Murphy and Matene Strikes First. We delve into the concept of We Do The Work, what we stand for, and where we’re heading. In this episode we focus on the current conflict at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota, the valiant efforts of Labor For Standing Rock, and why the hell any worker should concern themselves with the Dakota Access Pipeline. We Interview Jennifer Lewis, a member of the Seneca Tribe from upstate New York and Matt Stys, a US Army Veteran who after a few combat tours decided he could better focus his efforts on furthering the power of the working class. It’s a little long, but stick with it, you won’t be disappointed.
