<itunes:summary>Have you ever wondered about what your yoga teacher is really like outside of class? Do you love yoga and want to learn more from teachers around the globe? Are you a teacher and want to hear new and different perspectives on how to approach your classes? Do you enjoy hearing and learning about the interesting people who make up the yoga community? Everyone has their own, unique story. Whether you practice and/or teach yoga doesn't matter. The podcast offers compelling content and is more human-centric than yoga-centric. Perhaps, the two organically interweave. The Yoga Moves You Podcast launched officially on November 30th, 2017. Founder and Host, Andrew Gordon, plans to keep the content coming consistently.</itunes:summary>

Hey, it’s Andrew and this song, “All This Time”, is from the album, “Dying to be Born”. I wrote it while Mary and I were dating and going through some challenging times. We teamed up, and I rhymed and my beautiful songbird sang the hook. I know I am lucky. My friend told me, “You hit a broken bat home run”. It is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. If you already get it, you are probably laughing. If not, think about a baseball player trying to hit a homerun. Miraculously, the bat breaks while hitting the ball, and the result is still a homerun. The analolgy, is that I am the broken one, who has somehow hit a homerun. I’m not going to argue. Thanks for your support!

Hi, not sure what's needed or relevant but here goes.

My name is James Marsh, I live in the North West of England in a town called Wigan, situated several miles between Liverpool & Manchester.
I'm 37 with a partner & 2 kids. Had several jobs over the years but kind of fell into the fire service working for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service & have been here for about the past 16 years. After my application form was accepted I was called up for my first tests to get into the fire service which coincidentally was the same day as 9/11. So I remember that day as it was the day I started the process to become a firefighter. I was young, probably around 10 yrs when my gran first mentioned yoga yo me because of the way I was sat. Wasn't till I was in my 20s when I first started dabbling in a little toga but still didn't really start. P90X was when I first started doing routines & yogaX was when I got the bug. Still only played at it though for years. Last year is when I found IG Yoga & threw myself into it after suffering a prolapsed disc.
Hope this is useful.

There were things that they didn’t agree with. Carlos and Jason started exploring and adjusting the way they teach, and what their focus is. This has continued to develop and evolve not only in the way they talk about and teach alignment, but philosophy and life as well. Carlos has had quite the teaching journey, first teaching a full public schedule in Miami, as well as teaching internationally, before moving to Asheville, NC. He taught for a few months there before he moved to Bali for about a year. Carlos taught classes, trainings and workshops in Bali, as well as in North and South America, and around South East Asia. This year he will be back in the states, South America, Vietnam, Bali, Europe and wherever else the path takes him.

It was about eight years ago that Mary was overhwlemed, in denial, and filled with fear. She was constantly in motion, partying too hard, and working even harder. Mary had no off switch, and was very depressed. She had hit rock bottom. Battling an alcohol addiction, and a dependency on anti-anxiety medication, she was engaging in all sorts of self-sabotaging behaviors. Mary had a horrible diet and no self-care. Instead of leading the fulfilling life she had always dreamed of, she was living day to day in unsatisfying jobs with no real sense of direction or purpose. Foggy and frazzled, she was stuck. Mary had no idea how to move forward, and what she truly wanted. She came across a quote that would change her life, "In the middle of the fear lies the existence of opportunity". Mary checked into rehab and onto recovery. She feels it is because of her recovery, not in spite of it, that she now has the opportunity to live a truly fulfilling life. Mary is on a mission to help people find yoga, both on and off the mat. She now understands the true meaning of self-love, from the inside out. Mary has no regrets about her path, and feels grateful to use her experiences to uplift others.

Since earning her RYT-200 certification, Lizzie has participated in several workshops-both as a teacher-and a student. Lizzie teaches a powerful Vinyasa flow with creative sequencing and focus on alignment. She pays special attention to the breath and how it is used in deep connection to the movements of the body. Because of her love and knowledge of Yin Yoga and deep stretch and its importance to a well-rounded yoga practice, she also incorporates a lot of long holds during the cool down to really open the joints and stretch the muscles and connective tissue. Lizzie discovered yoga at the age of 12 when she wandered into a yoga studio completely curious and open-minded. The studio owner asked her to get a permission slip signed and she came back the very next day ready to give it a try. The rest is history.

She took solace in intentional movement and patient, meditative breathing. The yoga practice took her out of the mind chatter and into her body — physically, emotionally, and energetically. From a place of mental and emotional rock bottom, through the dedication of practice and perseverance, Erin emerged as a 750hr RYT yoga, meditation, breathwork teacher with a mission to make as big of an impact on the lives of the community as possible.

My name is Erica Whitman! I'm 32 years old and have been a been a yoga instructor for 8+ years now, with my 200 hour YTT.

My yoga journey began back when I was 16! I was always active growing up, but my interests were always on self motivating sports! I was in gymnastics for 8 years as a child. Then I progressed into diving for a year, and then at 16 I turned to yoga! It seemed natural for me! I loved flexibility, and strengthening my body! I took classes for a year, and by 17 I was actually teaching by donation at the local legion. I had no training for this, but surprisingly I had about 7-8 woman a class come and let me teach them! At 17 that was pretty cool, and sparked my interest for the future!

I lost touch with my yoga journey for a few years during college. I gained my freshman 20.... got married, and gained another newly wed 30. By the time I was 23 I was unhappy and uncomfortable in my body. I knew I needed a change, and this was when yoga became a huge part of my life again. I signed up for my YTT At the Yandara Yoga institute in Baja Mexico, and went on to complete my 200 course in an 16 day intensive program that was amazing!

Since my training, I have been teaching classes weekly, in addition to my regular job (Massage Therapist), as well as some private and one on one classes.

I also have a self practice daily, and am very into my Instagram yoga page, where I get to combine my love of yoga, with art, and photography! It's been a wonderful way to meet and encourage other like minded yogis out there.

My future as a yogi? To continue to always work on my self, and my practice! To motivate and encourage others to incorporate yoga into their lives!

I'm also combining my jobs of massage and yoga, and taking my Thai Yoga Massage course in February.

Namaste

I’ve found my life’s passion through the daily practice of yoga, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Inspired by the Rocket and Ashtanga Vinyasa flow, all of my classes have an emphasis on connecting breath with movement. Flow classes, also known as vinyasa flow classes, are generally faster paced than most other class types to help you build heat, strength and flexibility. Repeating a series of flowing postures between longer holds of static postures, movement is coordinated with breath. When the opportunity presents itself, I spice up my classes with some inversions and inversion preps. To close the class, we’ll transition into some cooling poses and a guided Yoga Nidra style savasana. Class temperature is on the warmer side around 75 - 80 degrees. No incense are burned.

Growing up, I never experienced the power of mindfulness, self-awareness, and “the now”. Yoga changed all of that for me. In 2012, after enrolling in a college Hatha Yoga and Philosophy course, I began the daily practice of Hatha yoga. I studied intensely in the yoga sutras and quickly found a sincere interest in Ayurveda. My life was forever changed when I began incorporating the Ayurvedic lifestyle into my daily routine. As my spiritual practice grew, I continued to integrate yoga off the mat, exploring many of the physical styles of yoga including, Power yoga, Hot yoga, Iyengar, Restorative, Prana Flow, Rocket, and Ashtanga. With a background in dance and gymnastics, I fell in love with Rocket and Ashtanga so much that I’ve developed a strong daily Ashtanga practice.
In Spring 2015, to deepen my personal practice, I decided to further my studies through Yoga District’s 200 Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) training. RYT has inspired me to share this beautiful practice with the community through private instruction, workshops, and group classes. With a thirst for knowledge and to deepen my sadhana, I️ continue to study under many different teachers such as John Schumacher in Iyengar, Faith Simeca in Ashtanga, Dharma Mittra in Dharma to name a few. With an aspiration to connect with the world I continuously seek innovative ways to foster a sense of community in my classes and through the practice of yoga. I truly believe that if we all were more self-aware, if we all worked towards self-realization, the world would be much more equanimous, connected, and at peace. I do my best to share this light in hopes of bringing the world closer together, one breath at a time.

Terrie has personal trained athletes of all types for over 20 years and believes yoga is one of the most powerful and healing forms of movement. She is Yoga Alliance Certified with over 3,000 teaching hours, is a three time National Aerobics Champion, was invited to the White House to help launch the inaugural National Fitness Day with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and has produced over 7 National Fitness videos, one with legendary boxer, Sugar Ray Leonard.

She is a pioneer in the world of wellness, founding Wellness Coalition America (WCA) in 2003, a health advocacy company dedicated to promoting total body wellness. She anchored a weekly segment on News 14 for over 5 years called, Train For Life reaching a viewing audience of 2.5 million.

She recently launched Empower Health, America (EHA) in November 2014. EHA is an organization dedicated to helping people make more informed choices regarding their health and total Ideal Being.

Terrie’s yoga journey began in 1999, thanks to Grace Morales, one of Charlotte’s first yoga teachers. She started practicing Ashtanga in a tiny heated room while listening to David Swenson on tape. A year later she started teaching Hot 26 classes for Grace at Charlotte Yoga. From that moment on, she knew she had found a new passion…teaching yoga. Terrie has a smashup fitness background including, dance, gymnastics, competitive aerobics, martial arts, and has taught about every type of organized exercise class possible, to include providing over two decades of personal training. However, she believes that nothing holds a candle to yoga because in her words, “you can improve your flexibility, strength, balance, posture, body awareness and overall cardiovascular strength but what you will soon realize is there is so much more to yoga.” Her love for yoga continues to grow deeper as her practice evolves. Terrie says, “Yoga is teaching me the importance of slowing down, that life is a process, that my best is good enough and that connecting to my breath, my thoughts and my emotions allow me to be more fully present and in doing that I can live a more connected purposeful life.” “Yoga is moving meditation to me and I feel grateful every time I get to guide one person or 100 people through a yoga practice. Yoga is a journey of the mind, body and heart. There is no end…just new possibilities every time you roll out your mat.”

Teaching style: Balanced, upbeat and tailored to the type of class or person she is teaching. She provides options to advanced yogis to go deeper in their postures while also providing modifications so everyone feels comfortably challenged on their mat. She says, “I love putting together cool music mixes, classes and one-on-one sessions that are designed to challenge the body, open the heart and calm the mind. I teach from my heart and have a sincere desire to help people achieve their personal best on and off the mat.”

Terrie reflects on her yoga journey and gives credit to all of the yogis who have influenced her along the way. “I am blessed to be a teacher but value the importance of being a student as well, so I respectfully give credit to the many wonderful teachers that have inspired and influenced me over the years. Grace Morales, Johnna Smith, Suzanne Bergen, Tanner Bazemore, Baron Baptiste, Brian Kest, Shiva Rea and (Kancho) Cameron Shayne. I have learned that in order to continue to grow you must have desire, an open heart and an open mind.”

Terrie also does Yoga Therapy sessions at Charlotte Sports Performance center.
