Willowbrook, alternatively named Willow Brook,[2] is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California. Willowbrook is the home of the troubled[4] Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital, which had been cited multiple times for failures in hospital accreditation. Willows and a slow, shallow brook distinguished this portion of the Los Angeles plain long before it was given the name "Willowbrook." A lone-standing streamside willow tree near the present intersection of 125th Street and Mona Boulevard was an original rancho boundary marker in the 1840s. Willowbrook was rich in springs in the early days and winter rains would bring up fine stands of rye grass between gravelly ridges left by long-ago floods of the Los Angeles River.
The first subdivisions in the Willowbrook area were filed in 1894 and 1895 on land along what is now Rosecrans Avenue. The mixture of suburban and rural land uses continued in Willowbrook into the early 1980s, when the area began to lose its rural character due to a redevelopment plan drafted by the Watts Labor Community Action Committee under the leadership of Ted Watkins from 1965 to 1993 and supported by Los Angeles County. As of the census[9] of 2000, there were 34,138 people, 8,476 households, and 6,823 families residing in the CDP.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $27,811, and the median income for a family was $30,107.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) provides Metro Local bus services to and from the Willowbrook area. Our topics include the formation of the New World Order and the New Age Agenda, popular conspiracy theories.
The story of Willowbrook State School is a terrifying true tale depicting the tragedy of thousands of children.
By 1962, the school that was supposed to house 4,000 now stuffed over 6,000 kids inside, under the supervision of undertrained staff who lacked the experience and numbers to care for them. In 1987, a man named Andre Rand, who had worked in the school, killed a young woman named Jennifer Schweiger on the abandoned school grounds. Close to 35 restaurants in China have been found to be spiking their food with opiates, including morphine and codeine. Enjoy gourmet pancakes, waffles, crepes and blintzes, or our special french toast creations. The first official use of the name Willowbrook came in 1903, when the Willowbrook Tract was recorded with the County Recorder. The deep lots (in many cases as deep as 300 feet, or 91 meters) attracted working-class families, especially newcomers to Southern California.
The station is located in the Century Freeway (Interstate 105) median, above the intersection of Imperial Highway and Wilmington Avenue in the Willowbrook. The station also has park and ride facilities, including 975 parking spaces and 4 bike lockers. Built in 1938 in Willowbrook, Staten Island, the building was originally a United States Army hospital. Eventually, patients were locked in rooms for extended lengths of time and forced to sleep on floors covered in their own excrement.
It was barren, it was sad, it was relentless; Some [children] were drooling, some were crying.
The scandal generated national headlines when it was exposed by Geraldo Rivera, who reported on the overcrowding, lack of sanitary conditions and the physical and mental abuse forced upon the disabled children. To raise the money, the soccer club sold pink Adidas shirts that read “Go Pink or Go Home.” The funds donated are to help establish the Challenge Soccer Club Cancer Education Fund.
Drew University of Medicine and Science, which oversees residency training programs, allied health programs, a medical education program (jointly with the University of California, Los Angeles), a medical magnet high school, the area Head Start program, and various centers for health disparities research. This grant was named the Rancho La Tajauta and it extended from the marshes along present Alameda Street westward to approximately the present line of the Harbor Freeway. The Big Red Cars provided fast, reasonable transportation to department stores in downtown Los Angeles and to jobs in the Long Beach and San Pedro harbor areas.
As a result, present-day Willowbrook appears similar to other communities in the South Central section of Los Angeles.

To the east of the station is the Metro Rail Operations Center, which is the dispatch hub for all Metro Rail trains. It was later converted in 1947 to a hospital for mentally handicapped children and renamed Willowbrook State School. They were kept in worse-than-prison conditions; prisons allotted 80 square feet per inmate while Willowbrook provided only 35 square feet per resident. Ever since, students of the College of Staten Island, which lies next to the old school grounds, have reported seeing figures moving through the shadows, strange noises and calls and unsettling feelings. There is no evidence that a townsite was envisioned and street patterns were not coordinated with adjacent tracts. During the Depression years, residents used the land behind their homes to grow fruits and vegetables, run hogs, and raise chickens. Drew University of Medicine and Science and King Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science are adjacent. Throughout the years, the school faced tremendous problems including lack of funding and understaffing, leading to absolutely deplorable living conditions for the increasing population of children. Many of the children were malnourished; most ran around the halls partially dressed or naked.
They were denied their basic right to humanity, with no place to put a treasured item, no place to put their possessions.
People who live near the abandoned grounds say that dark figures sometimes follow them to their homes at night, and stand in front of the houses until the sun comes up. The name Willowbrook came into use for the whole area, because the Big Red Cars of the Pacific Electric Railroad Company stopped at 126th Street in Willowbrook.
These land uses, together with the vacant lots covered with mustard plants, intensified the area's rural appearance. After the end of the Depression and World War II, increasing suburban development occurred in Willowbrook, but not to the extent that it substantially altered the area's rural character.
Some were force-fed milkshakes laced with a live hepatitis virus; some were fed the stool of other infected patients.
Could it be that the mentally handicapped children, having lived through years of torturous conditions, have come back to exact revenge?
Even the 1965 Watts Riots did not change that, although Willowbrook suffered damage to a number of its buildings, including Willowbrook's community library.
