Slowly but surely I have tackled a couple of of build-from-scratch projects to increase my woodworking skills and confidence. You may remember the gorgeous farmhouse table create by the Shanty 2 Chic sisters this past summer. Beth from Make Me Pretty Again was inspired by the immensely talented Ana White and Jen from House of Wood to build her own printer’s style cabinet for storing media components. With baby number five on the way, Courtney from Ordinary Happily Ever After found herself for the first time without an extra crib on hand.
Erin from One Project at a Time couldn’t help but do “a little happy dance” when she found plans for a geometric daybed over at Ana White. Bridgett from Osie Moats is not a fan of plastic laundry baskets since they usually end up broken after being used as stools by her boys. Bryan from Bryan’s DIY Home Improvement wanted new bedside tables, but a quick search online revealed that anything of decent quality would cost him a pretty penny. With a baby who is no longer baby, Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic knew it was time to convert her daughter’s room from a nursery to a big girl room. Shawna from Dakota Creek Chic came into the blogging world with a bang, sharing the gorgeous farmhouse table she built following plans from Ana White. Shawna from Dakota Creek Chic found an antique factory cart at a local antique store and knew she could build her own version of the Restoration Hardware table that was out of her budget at 1000 bucks. Busy settling into her new home, Jaime from That’s My Letter knew she needed to create a work area for her kiddos pronto. Mable from Tiny Dazzles Blog recently celebrated her daughter’s third birthday and knew the perfect gift for her sweet girl – a doll crib! With no garage, mudroom, or back entry, Brit from House Updated needed to add storage in her entryway to corral all the stuff for her family of four.
With the help of Ana White's plans, Jaime from That’s My Letter built this simple, modern toy box with inset sides and a personalized lid.
After living with her small, wobbly coffee table for ten years, Tricia from Simplicity in the South was more than ready to welcome a more substantial piece into her home. Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic has dreamed of building her own dining room table for her family of seven.
For their new 18-foot long dining room, Whitney from Life in the Barbie Dream House  and her husband knew they needed a long rustic table to fill the space. With a baby on the way, Ana White wanted the perfect changing table for her little guy – something “rustic yet refined” with storage aplenty.

While Meg from MT Tails didn’t need a farmhouse table, she did want a console table and modified the plans from Ana White to make it happen. Beth offers some helpful suggestions help you build your own without a hitch, so make sure to check it out! It was just the bed she had been wanting for her baby’s nursery, and Erin was more than thrilled to save some cash through DIY. Ever since adding shelving to her bathroom, Bridgett knew she wanted a cottage-inspired laundry basket to fill the space below. Instead, Bryan decided to delve into his first woodworking project and build his own following plans from The Design Confidential. First up, was a big girl bed that Whitney literally whipped up in one day following plans from Ana White.
For her birthday, her husband built her a large craft table using Ana White plan, and then Brook painted it a soft aqua to coordinate with the rest of the space. Shawna used Ana White’s plans as a rough guide but was fortunate to already have the cart (that happened to have awesome casters) to use as a base. She teamed up with Ana White to transform an empty space into a functional and beautiful workspace that features three schoolhouse desks. She found plans for a DIY crib from Ana White and tweaked them a bit to include a changing table and storage shelves.
They wanted a bench for the kids to sit on and put on shoes, baskets for storage, and hooks for coats and backpacks. First up is Jen, who sought out the assistance of Ana White to build a media console to hold her 50” plasma TV that had been collecting dust in storage. And let me just say this baby covers all the bases when it comes to safety with a child safe closure that holds its position and a cut-out in front so no little fingers get pinched!  The lumber and hardware cost less than half of the retail price, making this DIY version a beautiful and budget-friendly option. Tricia actually built her new “beefier” table for a mere $50 since most of the wood was salvaged from an old building.
With the help of Ana White, that dream came true, and Whitney now has a “BEAUTIFUL and beefy DIY farmhouse table” that she can proudly say SHE built.
They immediately fell in love with the planked dining room tables from Restoration Hardware and the cream colored linen chairs they paired with them. DIY Storage Lockers for Kids No Mudroom No problem Good affair the plans I found on Ana are made just for people the like us.

The hefty price tag only put Courtney off for a moment before she decided she could easily construct her own. However, she wasn’t about the drop a wad of cash on something that would be housing dirty, stinky clothes from three boys. Bryan’s two tables cost under $200 to build, and he went all out with high-end features like European drawer slides. Here’s what Shawna has to say about her third big project: “This was an easy build, taking only one afternoon to finish.
Mable was able to make her crib for only $6 since she already had most of the supplies on hand.
Brit built her own stunning storage system, creating a built-in look for a fraction of the cost! My favorite part is how the beveled apothecary-style door flips down to reveal a cubby that hides the media components. Very little expense went into the build since Courtney already had the wood and legs on hand for this cozy little baby bed. Instead Bridgett gathered several items she already had to create a rustic laundry basket that fits her space to perfection – in both size and design! All I can say is that I am blown away by her mad skills and can’t wait to see how the room comes together! That’s $6 well spent since Mable gets to enjoy the sight of her daughter putting her dolls to bed each night. She borrowed a little help from Ana White for the tabletop but can take the credit for the rest of the plan. With the holidays coming up in the next couple of months, this is the perfect table for serving all your guests.
At 32 weeks preggo, Ana worked alongside her family to build the perfect changing table for their little bundle of joy… for less than $100!
