About the Author: Jason Prickett loves to write about home maintenance and stuff you can do yourself instead of hiring any professional. The planter boxes are made with t-111  plywood siding, which has an 8" groove pattern in it.
Smart Tip: You could also use regular pine slats, but you need to protect them against decay, using appropriate products. Build the rest of the rafters (intermediate rafters) out of 2×4 lumber, cutting their both ends at 60?.
Aligned the rafters at both ends, otherwise you won’t be able to fit the roofing sheets. Smart Tip: Use a circular saw with a sharp blade to cut the sheets along the cut lines, to avoid damaging the edges.
Attaching the side and back walls is optional, but it will most likely not only improve the look of the shed, but also protect the firewood from heavy rain or snow. This lean to wood storage shed is a sturdy construction, so it can resist and serve you for many years in a row.
This shed is narrow enough to fit any space, making it the right choice if you want to store a small quantity of firewood.
Thank you for reading our article about how to build a wood shed and we recommend you to check out the rest of our projects. The finished height and the width of your lumber will determine how many slats you need to cut. Once you have both short ends built, its time to attach them together with the long sides.Follow the same process to construct the short sides, but make sure to run the slats all the way past the 2x2, covering the end of the short slat. Flip the crate upside down, apply wood glue to the bottom of the slats and 2x2's, then line up your pre-cut plywood. The last step is to drill 2 large holes on either short side, and your crate is ready for finish and handles of your choice! Do you know which part of your wood fence is most susceptible to rot and insect damage?  If you said the posts, congratulations, you're right. Using metal fence brackets, you can install your wood fence with galvanized steel posts to avoid rot and insect damage. But for the most part, it’s simple if you have a good plan, permitting, and framing and time to execute. Some ordinances will call for set backs, or even no build zones for any side of a property.
Support your deck with 4 x 4 treated lumber and galvanized post anchors set in 8 to 10 inch diameter concrete footings. If it can help you, also produced a small sketch that follow throughout the work, so you always have in mind the goal. Take then one of the two long strips at each end and the fixed end of one of two short pieces, of course, making sure that the side are in a perpendicular position relative to the base.

Building a wood shed is one of those projects that pay off especially during the cold winters.
First of all, we recommend you to buy quality lumber (pressure-treated lumber or pine) and check if the slats are in a good condition. In addition, check all the corners for squareness and make sure the corner posts are plumb, using a good spirit level. Apart from being a relatively easy project, as you don’t need many skills to get the job done, it also implies a small investment. Make sure the slats join on the middle of the joints, otherwise the floor won’t support the weight efficiently. In order to get the job done quickly and to get a professional result, we recommend you to build each corner leg from two 2×4 slats. As you can see in the image, you need cut the ends of the side rafters at 60? (use 2×4 lumber), as to have a proper access to the interior of the shed, as well as to drain the water properly. Drill pilot holes trough the rim rafters before driving in the galvanized wood screws into the end of the rafters. As you can see it has a neat modern design, so you can place it near your house without damaging the style of your property. First, fill the holes with wood putty and afterwards to sand the wooden surface with medium-grit sandpaper. If you have followed our tips, your wood shed will store the firewood for many years in a row. Don’t forget to share our projects with your friends, by using the social media widgets, if you have found them useful and to help us create more free plans. With only 1 nail per corner, you should be able to shift the wood as needed and use a speed square to make sure the whole piece is square. Pre-drill several small holes around the perimeter and attach the plywood to the crate with 1 inch wood screws, making sure to slightly counter-sink the heads. Keep your joist span below 10 feet and be sure your foundation is lower than the frost line in your area. Use a 2×2 ledger or toenail attachment to put the stair stringers on the side of the framing.
Align all the components at both ends, before inserting the galvanized screws into place, otherwise the end result might not fit your needs properly.
In order to build the wood shed, you need to use pressure-treated lumber, as the components will resist against rot.
As you can see in the plans, you should drill pilot holes trough the rim joists before driving in the 3” galvanized screws. Use a spirit level to check if the front and the back rafters (use 2×4 lumber) are perfectly horizontal. Fit the back and drip edge under the roofing felt, while the side drip edges should be installed over the felt. If you take a look around the internet, you can find some awesome inspiration on how to incorporate wood crates into your decor.
I like generous spacing between my slats, so I decided to construct my crate with 3 slats per side.

Once you have all the corners square, drive at least 2 more nails into each end on the slats.
If your local retail store offering a lower price for very long strips, buy them quietly, they will cut in progress and you will save a lot. There are many designs and plans you could choose from, so you should take a look on the alternatives, before starting the actual constructions.
If you would like the same look, but don't have pallets you can pull apart and use, a good substitution would be pine fence pickets or even 2x3 furring strips.
The only thing keeping the nails in place is the kinetic friction (or pressure) of the wood on it's self. For larger sizes, however, you will need to make two halves, each is open to one side and meet in the middle. Take now the other long strip and attach it to the two lateral always using the screws, but in this case you will have to protrude from the top of the side for five centimeters. If everything is planed from the very beginning and use proper materials, any diy-er can can build the basic shed in just a few days.
As for the small parts will serve the screws by four centimeters, four hinges large enough and a hook for closing the gate.
In this way, the gate will not have an excessive weight and will not risk to yield in the terminal part.
At this point you will have to cut the laminated middle that will be identical to the size of the sides.
Screws actually grip into the layers of wood, creating a very good hold, even when being pulled straight down. Once you’ve decided on the design, measure the length you want for the gate (or each of the two parts if it is a double gate).
The color is very subjective: if you have other wood elements placed close to where you are going to install the gate, try to keep the same color, or at least not too much nuance in contrast.
Remove the measurement obtained 10 cm (which will be used for the pillars side) and cut two strips of exactly that length.
For example: if the space where you want to put the gate is one meter wide, you will need to cut two strips each spanning 90 cm.
Then you have to screw a strip in an oblique position with respect to the axes, so as to stabilize the structure. If your gate is then formed from one side, then on one side you will have to tighten two hinges, while the other closed. If instead your gate consists of two parts, each will have two hinges at the sides and the closure will be fixed in the central meeting point. You just have to draw on all the strips of stain , so as to give color to the whole and protect the gate from the rain.
Then assembled the gate to the side pillars which have previously fixed to the ground and your job will be finished.
