AlvinC answered a question about my Ford truck that only someone with an in-depth knowledge of his subject would have known what was going on. Because of your expertise, you armed me with enough ammunition to win the battle with the dealer.
I do know, after going though this with JustAnswer, that I can somewhat trust my mechanic but I will always contact you prior to going there. I would (and have) recommend your site to others I was quite satisfied with the quality of the information received, the professional with whom I interacted, and the quick response time. WayneNep, I have had life intervene and haven't been on here for a long time, so I'm sorry I haven't responded until now. The previous owners son had the truck painted, and the Camper Special metal insignia came with it, in the glove box.
Although I've got the VIN #, the warranty plate is missing and that would really help cause i do want to know the gear ratio of it.

The English certification label is attached to the driver's side door or door lock pillar. With that in mind, the transmission i purchased is a 4L80E and because its fully electronic, maybe that's why it's not working then? I just joined the forum, and I am trying to make a determination about a truck that my husband had in order to sell it.
Or from another 4WD truck or 4Runner with the same gear ratio(and ABS if that's what you have).
There should be 3 digits, the first 2 for the rear ratio and the 3rd for the front. Can you take a picture of that label and give it to me? Rear axles have a metal tag secured under adjacent axle housing cover bolt heads listing Ford and Dana part numbers and the ratio. I'm thinking it might not be the right transmission but can you help point me in the right direction of the right one? 2 or 4 wheel ABS has nothing to do with it, because it's a rear axle(since if you have 2 or 4 wheel ABS, the rear axle has ABS either way, that's why it's not even called 2 wheel ABS, it's called rear wheel ABS, or 4 wheel ABS if the front has ABS too). I was sent a 4L80E MCP 00 0 061 transmission, and my van is a 1999 3500 Chevy Express and my m-code is MT1. I know of no other source on the web with this info displayed as clearly, all in one place. What's the best way to view this?Your story about your nephew was unfortunately not an uncommon story.
They probably don't or can't have any actual memories of seeing the vehicle new as do older drivers.

I have spent a number of hours trying to research 1977 trucks and the differences between the C10 and C20.
I haven't found any websites that explain the numbers on the pumpkin, but I haven't given up yet. The truck has automatic transmission, but I haven't tried yet to go any deeper on these numbers. The VIN is put on with rosette rivits, so am I right to assume this is the original VIN plate? But,the badges say C20. While I realize that someone could've just swapped badges, my trash truck is a 1977 C10 to compare it to, and the "C20" just seems heavier. He had a design in his head for a carburetor that would make it get better gas mileage and was keeping it for his retirement years. It was called a C20 in the appraisal and they used their computer to look up VINs, so I'm a little confused.
Maybe I'll get lucky. What I would like from the forum folks is any help in identifying it as a C10, C20, or some combination of the two.
I am probably not going to be able to take anything apart, so I will have to have info that I can visually check. I haven't been able to see an engine number, but I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place.
