In the 2016 Annual Auto Survey, Consumer Reports asked customers to rate their most reliable cars. Consumer Reports has named Lexus its top-ranked brand for overall reliability and performance while the Prius was named again “Top Pick” in the Green Car category.
In the shopping guide’s rankings of the top automotive brands, Lexus’ overall score of 79 out of 100 was the best of the 23 brands based on the average road-test score, as well as each brand’s average predicted-reliability score. Interestingly, Consumer Reports observed in general luxury brands outperformed their mainstream stablemates. The publication stated not having report cards this year for Fiat, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mini, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Ram, Scion, Smart, and Tesla because they had too few currently tested models from those makes or they lacked sufficient reliability data to make a valid comparison.
