If anyone is interested in Volunteering VP of Community Affairs: DeRay Williams: Congratulations to Shaneka Feagin on a wonderful job serving as NPAA Guest Speaker on last month discussing Sexual Health. Our Next Monthly Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Topic: Evenity Location is TBD. Treasurer: Carol Anders-Treasurer Report as of now is $27,637.01 We still have a check that is pending to clear. Legislative Liason: Terri/Joyce-Discussed House Bill 194 which aims to revise the Joint Committee of The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners & Board of Nursing to ensure fair representations for Nurse Practitioners (CRNPs) & Nurse Midwives (CNMs). The key changes proposed: 2 CRNPs & 1 CNM in active collaborative practice CRNPs appointed by Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA) CNMs appointed by Alabama Chapter of Nurse Midwives. Sharon Barganier: NPAA Memberships-some changes will be coming ahead; There is a free CE event every 3rd Saturday of every month from 9a-10a. Jennifer Connor will be the next speaker on Colorectal Cancer Screenings. NPAA will be held in Montgomery, Alabama this year on Thursday/Friday instead of Friday/Saturday. New Business Joyce: Scholarship Committee-APRR will be selecting 2 applicants by awarding $2500 scholarship to each recipient. The following criteria to apply: BSN, MSN, PA, Or Doctoral Degree, must be a resident of Alabama, Must attend an accredited school of nursing; GPA of 3.0 or higher, Membership to APRR is encouraged but not required. Must submit a current resume for review; Must submit 2 letters of recommendation, Must submit a short essay highlighting future career goals in healthcare and how the scholarship will be beneficial. Scholarship packets will be due no later than March 16th-if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Joyce Loyd-Davis at APRR. The scholarships will be presented to 2 individuals in our May Meeting. Upcoming Events: Holiday Smiles Partnership with APRR-participation of Easter by making Easter Baskets for our Elderly. June 13th ASU will be hosting a Men's Health Fair which will be opened to the Community-APRR will have a table and assist with event.
