Timer

When you are working in a Classcraft session, you can manage pacing and expectations for instructional objects by using the Timer, which is accessible in the Tools menu. Once set, your students can also see the Timer on their Student Panels.

Instructions for using the Timer are provided below.

To use the Timer tool:

 

1.    In the left menu bar of the Classroom Panel or the Teacher Panel, click the Tools link to open the Tools menu bar and view the list of available tools.

2.    In the Tools menu, click Timer.

A Set Timer panel or dialog box appears.

 

      If you open the Timer from the Teacher Panel, it appears as a Set Timer section in the left Timer panel.

      If you open the Timer in the Classroom Panel, it appears as a Set up Timer dialog box.

3.    On the Classroom Panel, select how the Timer displays using the options in the top pink menu bar, as follows:

 

      Move the Timer to any location on the page by clicking and dragging the dialog box.

      Minimize the Timer by clicking the arrows pointing inward Minimize Timer. The Timer appears as a box in the bottom right corner of your Classroom Panel as shown below. At any time, you can click the Timer box to expand it.

      Maximize the Timer by clicking the arrows pointing outward Maximize Timer in the dialog box. The Timer expands and displays as the entire screen as shown below. At any time, you can click the arrows in the upper right corner to minimize the Timer.

      Hide the Timer by clicking the Close Timer X option. The Timer is hidden from view but is still running in the background. A green dot appears next to the Timer in the Tools menu bar indicating that the timer is currently running.

4.    Set the Timer options by doing the following:

      Click the plus or minus buttons to adjust the length of time for the given activity or instructional object.

      If you want to pause your students' experience once the set time has ended, select the Pause student screens when time is up check box. This pauses given activity or instructional object on the Student Panel when the set length of time has ended.

Note: The Pause student screens when time is up check box is turned off by default. If you do not select the Pause student screens when time is up check box, your students will continue to have access to the given activity or instructional object even after the set time has ended.

 

      If you do not want to use the Timer, click Cancel.

 

5.    Once you have the settings selected, click Start. The Timer appears on your Classroom Panel as you selected (maximized, minimized, or hidden), and it appears on your students' Student Panels (if in use) as shown below.

Your students can move the Timer to any location on their Student Panel by clicking and dragging the dialog box.
