Title: Avoid Dropshipping Scams

Hello,

Dropshipping is a great business model, but it’s also ripe
for scammers. Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to spot and
avoid the most common scams.

The most common scam is for companies to list themselves in
directories as dropshippers, when they are, in fact, just
directories themselves. The easiest way to spot this type
of scam is when they require a fee to “join” or when they
require you to opt-in with your name and email address to
find out “more information” on their offerings.

Some legitimate dropshippers may require opt-in, but this
is rare, and it’s much more likely they would require you
to call them for information or have a full application
for potential business deals.

You may also run into scams that promise rock-bottom
wholesale prices, but charge a monthly or yearly fee to
access those prices. No legitimate dropshipper will charge
a fee to access their products. Period. If they charge
you a fee, they aren’t a real dropshipper.

Sometimes you might run into companies that appear to be
legitimate, but they are actually just selling an retail
or near retail prices and offering dropshipping. These
companies usually claim to offer their products at
wholesale prices, or even below wholesale, but they
won’t let you see their prices until you sign up.
Once you sign up, you’ll find out their real prices.
It’s nearly impossible to make money on their products,
so it’s best to just avoid them.

These are a few of the most common types of scams you
might run into. There could be others, but as long as you
avoid giving companies any money upfront, you should be
fine.

There’s one exception as far as paying fees, and that is
for legitimate wholesale directories. You’ll learn about
some of the legitimate directories, which can save you a
lot of time and effort, in tomorrow’s email.
