Title: Getting And Keeping Members

Hello,

It’s important to know that it’s much cheaper to retain a current
member than it is to acquire a new one, thus you need to focus on
keeping current members as happy as possible.

You won’t be able to keep members from canceling indefinitely. You
will have members who can no longer afford their membership, or who
just feel like it’s no longer right for them for whatever reason.

Some of those you may be able to convince to stay a member if you
ask each member why they are canceling when they do. Then you may
be able to counter with something that could get them to stay, such
as a temporary discounted price for a few months, or even a month or
two free.

These methods might not be as profitable if you’re only charging a
few dollars per month, but if you’re charging over $20 or $30 per
month, retaining that member might be worth it.

Getting members is not easy. It’s probably the hardest aspect of
owning a membership site, because everything else is relatively
simple.

Social media is probably the easiest method of attracting new
members, but if you don’t have a big following, you’ll either have
to pay for advertising, or you’ll have to build your following
as you go.

Facebook Ads are a great way to get members, and they are
surprisingly affordable once you get the hang of them.

You can also use Facebook groups to get traffic by posting in
groups related to your niche, but it’s important to read each
group’s rules and follow them carefully so you don’t get banned
and so you don’t hurt your reputation in the community by becoming
known as a spammer.

Pinterest Ads can also work if you’re in a niche that does well
on Pinterest. If you’re not sure how well represented your niche
is on Pinterest, a few simple searches will let you know how
many people are posting content in the niche, and whether that
content is getting many likes and re-pins.

Instagram and Twitter can be great sources of traffic even without
spending money if you use appropriate hash tags, especially if
you are posting interesting images and content regularly.

Once you have a good sized member base, concentrate on keeping
those people members for as long as possible by updating regularly
and providing the highest possible quality.

This concludes our series on starting your first membership site.
I hope you learned a lot, and more importantly I hope you will
implement what you’ve learned.
