Title: Payments And Pricing For Membership Sites

Hello,

A lot of people struggle with pricing their membership sites.

Should you keep your price low so you can retain members longer,
or should you price high for exclusivity?

The answer depends on the type of membership site you are
creating, and how much it costs you to run the site.

If you’re running a basic membership site where users create
all or most of the content, or where you’re creating the content
yourself and it doesn’t take a lot of time, try to keep your price
at $10 per month or less. Less than $5 per month is ideal if
you can manage it.

At this price, most people won’t bother canceling. People are
either too lazy or too busy to remember to cancel from month to
month.

But if you’re charging more than $10 per month, people are more
likely to think, “Yikes! I just got charge $97 and now I can’t
pay my phone bill!” Then you get not only cancellations, but
requests for refunds from unhappy people who forgot to cancel.

Of course, sometimes you may have a legitimate reason for
charging more than $10 per month.

Perhaps the cost of your content is quite high, such as in the
case of creating a lot of video content or exclusive tutorials.

Perhaps your content is exclusive and you limit downloads to a
certain number per month. Obviously, people will expect to pay
more for exclusivity, but they want to know there’s a valid
reason for the higher price.

For example, they might not be willing to pay for exclusive
weight loss help, because it doesn’t need to be exclusive in that
case. But if you’re offering PLR content, people will want fewer
people to have that content.

You will want to keep your prices around the same as that of
your competitors if you can. Visiting those sites and seeing
how yours compares is always a good idea, and that will give you
ideas on how much you should charge.

The script you choose will help you take payments, but you will
need a billing company. I suggest using either PayPal or Stripe.
Either one will get your money to you very quickly.

Tomorrow is our final email, and we’re going to talk about how
to get and keep members, so don’t miss it!
