Title: Do Free Reports Still Work?

Hello,

For years, the most common method of getting people to
opt into your email list was by offering a free report.

That’s still the most popular method, but some people
are reporting that it’s not as effective as it used to
be.

As more people become savvy to the internet, they have
come to realize that most of those free reports they
see offered are garbage. They know that the average
free report is just a few pages, mostly fluff with no
real information, and just not worth the effort to
download.

In order to get people to opt in, you have to go above
and beyond what they are expecting.

Make your free report something good enough that they
would be willing to pay for it.

Offer REAL VALUE in the report by including some
valuable information the might not be able to find just
anywhere.

Make sure it’s longer than a few pages. 15-20 pages at
minimum is a good idea if you can manage it.

Then make sure you convey the value of your free report
on your squeeze page. Tell them it’s longer than the
average report. Tell them how rare and valuable the
information contained in it is.

You may be wondering why you’d want to give away such
valuable information for free. Wouldn’t it be better
if you saved your best content for paid products?

Obviously you want to include your best content in
your paid products. Nothing says you can’t include that
information in both free and paid products.

But by giving great information away, it makes people
think, “If this person’s free content is this great,
how good will their paid products be?”

And the reverse is also true. If you give them crap
for free, they will expect that your paid content is
likely to be garbage, too.

Remember, email subscribers are GOLD. Even those that
never buy a single thing are valuable, because when you
have a larger list, it’s easier to get joint venture
partners. That in itself is incredibly valuable.

So every subscriber is valuable, even if they aren’t
buyers!

For this reason, you should consider every one of them
a paid buyer when they download your report.

Tomorrow we’re going to talk about another common way to
get email subscribers, so don’t miss it!

Until then,
