Title: Targeting Options On Facebook

Hello,

Targeting is one of the most crucial elements of your campaigns, so
it is vital that you get it right.

Unfortunately, it can also be one of the trickiest elements, at least
until you begin to understand your target demographic.

Before you even get started, you need to build a profile of who you
believe your typical visitor or buyer might be.

Start with the most basic information, such age, gender, language
spoken, location, etc. You may not be certain of a lot of this info,
so just fill out as much as you can.

Remember, you don’t have to choose every possible targeting option.
In fact, you may want to leave things like age and gender out of
your targeting and let the advanced targeting do its magic. You
should only use those basic options if you’re relatively sure of
your typical visitor or buyer demographic.

And if you’re guessing, you might be wrong!

Still, it’s helpful to write all this down, because it’s a good idea
to have the biggest picture possible.

Next, write down things like some of the hobbies and interests your
audience might have. For example, if you’re selling sporting goods,
you might write down things like camping, fishing, hunting, golf, and
other sporting activities.

You can even EXCLUDE certain demographics if you’re certain they
will not want your products. Most of the time you won’t want to do
this, but there may occasionally be a need to. For example, you could
exclude people from countries where you’ve had a lot of fraudulent
transactions.

I know there are a lot of options in the targeting section, but you
do not want to rush through this.

Just make sure you segment your ads into several different campaigns
instead of trying to target by too many interests in a single ad!

You’ll want to tailor your ad images, text, and other media to the
demographic options you’ve chosen, such as a fishing related graphic
for that demographic, and a camping related graphic for that one.

Tomorrow we will look at another important element of your Facebook
Ads campaigns: placement.

Until then,

especially important!
