Title: What Is Dropshipping?

Hello,

One of the largest expenses in starting any kind of retail
business is buying product. In fact, for online stores that
don’t have a lot of overhead like buying a physical store
or paying huge utility bills, it can be the single largest
initial expense.

But what if you could avoid that altogether?

Dropshipping allows you to put a wide variety of products
on your online store without spending a penny upfront on
those products.

So how exactly does dropshipping work?

Let’s say you put a shirt for sale on your site that you
find through a dropshipping company. The company charges
you $10 for that shirt, plus $4 shipping, and you price
it at $15 on your store, plus $5 shipping. (The extra $1
is a “handling” charge you add to cover the cost of
placing the order with the dropshipper.)

A visitor to your site likes the shirt and decides to buy
it, so they place an order through your online store and
pay for it. They pay you $20, which is your $15, plus the
$5 shipping.

You go to the dropshipper and place an order for the shirt,
paying them $10, plus $4 shipping, for a total of $14. You
have $6 left from the customer’s order, which is your profit.
You keep that money.

The dropshipper then puts the shirt into packaging and ships
it directly to the customer without you having to touch it.

With dropshipping, you don’t have to deal with things like
shipping or returns on a regular basis. The only thing you
need to do is order the product and handle any customer
service issues that may arise on occasion.

Sure, there are still problems with dropshipping. But there
are problems with any element of business.
