The Optional Training Leash allows you to connect to the front and back of the harness simultaneously.
To measure your dog for the Freedom Harness, simply measure all the way around the chest at the largest point (right behind the front legs). Advantages: Excellent control, secure, works well with any dog with neck problems (one of our greyhounds has a disk problem in her neck). We ordered our first harness for a greyhound some six years back - we were nervous about a friend whose hound had slipped out of his collar.
We had tried other anti-pulling harnesses and frankly I did not think this one would work either. This harness, some patience, and positive enforcement will make your dog a slack lead walker too. I ordered the Freedom No pull harness and leash set for my 5 year old very Pulling Great Dane.
The head collar is a restraint mechanism.  The premise is that the halter controls the dog’s head, and where the head goes, the body must follow (think of a horse bridle).
The no-pull harness works by tightening around and pulling down on the dog’s chest whenever they pull on the leash.  This creates an unwanted feeling, so they stop pulling in order to release the pressure. This harness can be used for dogs with sensitive necks, or dogs that are able to slip easily out of a standard flat collar.  This fixed-position harness puts all your control around your dog’s chest, which is the strongest part of its body.

A martingale collar works similarly to a choke chain collar in that it tightens around the dog’s neck when your dog pulls on the leash. I’ve recently switched Ruby to the Freedom harness – hers is navy and royal blue!
WE had the easy walk harenss and several others but our dog Zoey, A Treeing Walker Coonhound, always managed to get out of them.
Alternatively you can use the training leash to connect to the harness and a collar at the same time, providing additional control points.
If you realize you have ordered the wrong size harness, you can exchange your unused harness for the correct size for the cost of shipping within 7 days of receipt. If your dog enjoys walking you, it may be time to consider a training collar.  The following collars and harnesses should be used for training purposes only and removed after each training session.
To protect your dog’s eyes and skin, it is important NOT to slip the prong collar over the dog’s head. It will tighten until it reaches the end of the loop, so unlike a choke chain, it will not tighten unceasingly.  Also, martingale collars are designed for dogs with heads that are smaller than their necks. I took Rio out on this and while it was nice to have it attaching to the front and back of the harness for additional control points, I found myself fiddling with the leashes, tightening up one while letting the other a little looser – so I ultimately ended up having to hold onto the actual leash part vs. After reading lots of reviews, including yours, I’ve decided to go with this harness.

Connecting to this ring is Optional but it does allow you to connect to the front and back of the harness simultaneously. Until this harness (the Freedom No-Pull Harness from 2 Hounds Design), we had been making due with our other harness known as the Easy Walk. This and the easy walk have been the perfect no-pull harnesses but I have to admit, we always wear this one now! We stopped using it because it made my dog’s armpits bleed when I was first LLW training her.
When I first heard about it and Googled reviews, I remember one reviewing saying that it was the “Rolls Royce of dog harnesses,” which is so totally true!
The main connection on the back of the harness tightens gently around the chest to discourage pulling behavior, while the connection on the front of the harness allows you to redirect your dog's attention back to you for training and treats. While it did help the pulling – if she became squirmy, she could squirm her way right out of it.
