Edit Device Details

With the Device Edit option, you can provide a more meaningful Description, reclassify the Device Type or even change the Device Name to match its Dashboard counterpart (by default the Connected Devices section displays the Hostname*).

1. Right-click on the target device in the Connected Device or Connection History tab
2. Choose Edit Device or from the Device drop-down
3. Edit the required information in the Device Details for DEVICENAME dialog
4. OK to save and apply

To reset the device details back to their original values at any time, even after changes to the device details are saved, click Revert to Discovered Values. Available in the Edit Device dialog after actioning any changes.

* Like Asset Tracking, Network Discovery will show the hostname of the device on the Dashboard rather than the Monitoring and Management device name that may have been assigned when installing the Advanced Monitoring Agent in server mode. As such to ensure the Network Device name matches its Monitoring and Management counterpart, the Network Device Name may be amended in the Edit Device dialog. This will only change the name displayed in the Connected Devices panel.
