All we need to know as acne sufferers is when a sudden change in glucose or insulin levels occurs, so does a spike in hormone levels. If I break it down and rationalize, I have to agree that although metaphysically unfair, the diet-cause or at least diet-prevention theory of acne makes more sense. You wouldn’t even have to take vitamins and supplements if you just ate a well-balanced diet and consumed the nutrients directly from the source.

The paleolithic diet basically takes its reasoning from the fact that our ancestors did not seem to suffer from the skin disorders we have now such as acne. Their diet consisted of whole animal foods (with the exception of dairy products), fresh fruits and vegetables, and no grains or legumes.
On the paleolithic diet you are allowed to eat meat (including poultry and fish), eggs, fruits, veggies, seeds, and nuts. It’s not the greatest tasting BUT is extremely low GI and will offer a lot of energy for the day. The funny thing is that most people think of detox diets as having to eat nothing but green vegetables and fruit for 3 days straight.


Then once our bodies have adjusted, we can start to ease up a little and incorporate other foods into a more diverse long-term diet. While some say that you must eat organic foods, stay away from salt, sugar, and fat, and drink nothing but water, others say that diet is irrelevant because acne is bacterial. These are highly influenced by the nutrition received and we are completely responsible for that nutrition. Glucose is the food of neurons and you need these to think about the implications of your diet on your complexion among other things. The conclusion is that dairy is bad for your skin and you should therefore stay away from it. Sometimes, I cannot afford food and I’ll buy something cheap just for the sake of its calorie content.
