The Yamaha HH60 is an electronic Hi-Hat pedal. It is a “closed-half-open” type pedal with a stereo (TRS) ¼" plug.
Not all electronic drums work the same and my drum ‘brain’ (a vintage DrumKat MidiKiti) only supports Hi-Hat pedals that are a simple ‘open-closed’ switch with a mono (TS) ¼" plug.
Using an ohmmeter, I was able to find contacts on the pcb of the HH60 that behaved appropriately…and I added an old guitar jack I had…
I mounted this on the opposite side of the original jack:
