Piano blues in Bolivia - May 15, 2017

I am very proud to represent the USA at the upcoming Festiblues Bolivia international blues festival, July 20-22 in La Paz, Bolivia. The tour calls for several performances, workshops, jams, and master classes. Looking forward to a great time! My last visit to La Paz was in April, 1976. Thanks to Jamie Atkinson and the US Embassy for this unique opportunity.

25th anniversary for "Gone With the Wind" - January 7, 2017

Snap your fingers and here we are...25 years since we (Blue Light Special) won the First Prize at the Cape Fear Blues Society talent search in Wilmington, NC.

First Prize was ten hours of studio time with Mark Williams at Reflection in Charlotte (Mark comped us an extra two hours in the end...whole project start-to-finish, record/mix, was only twelve hours!).

I scribbled up a bunch of songs, we rehearsed them, and the first release of the album (in cassette form, entitled "Lowcountry Blues" by Shrimp City Slim) was ready by the time Chicago Bob and I left for Holland in April 1992. I did a formal release (cassettes and CDs) that summer, 1992 (as Blue Light Special). It was later reprinted (several times by now) as "Shrimp City Slim with Blue Light Special".

Time to revisit (it is a good album!):

"Tidal Pool", the new solo CD - August 30, 2016

Seventeen tracks in the can. Nine vocals, eight instrumentals. Thanks very much to Steve 'OJ' Hardy for a great recording. We are looking at October release. Info to come.

Work begins on new solo CD - August 15, 2016

"Tidal Pool"...tracking begins Monday, August 22. Twelve to fifteen original songs, most of which have not been recorded before. About half instrumental, half vocal. Looking for October release, to coincide with the 20th annual Carolina Downhome Blues Festival in Camden, SC (October 6-8...check out for program notes).
