Timeline: Agape's decline

An inspector from Orange County Fire Rescue phones the education department to tell them that Agape Christian Academy has been out of compliance with its fire inspections for the past two years. Specifically, the fire alarm system is not working.

Feb. 9, 2016

As part of the annual scholarship renewal process, Agape submitted a letter to the education department on Orange County letterhead saying it was it was in compliance with fire code.

Fire Marshal Bruce Faust wrote in an email to the education department that the inspector whose signature appears at the bottom of the past two compliance letters has never seen them before.

The education department and Agape entered a settlement agreement that, among other things, required the school to administer assessments to students.

The department revoked Agape’s participation in scholarship program, saying the school had not fulfilled the settlement agreement.
