Mathematics Teachers Examine Implicit Gender Biases in Their Teaching of Mathematics

Description

This presentation will describe a cycle of intervention used by in-service secondary mathematics teachers to examine implicit gender bias in their teaching. Adapted from the Shepardson and Pizzini (1991) and Neumann (2007) protocols, teachers transcribe and code their verbal interactions with their students to develop awareness of gender stereotypes.
