Back Away from that Butterfly! Delaying Procedures with Lessons That Develop Fraction Fluency
Description
Research on fraction instruction says to delay procedures. As a classroom teacher, I say, "Okay, but delay procedures with what?" In this workshop, lessons will be shared that are part of that "what." The lessons will focus on a conceptual introduction to fraction notation and on the development of fraction comparison strategies.
