Unraveling Escher: Discovering the Mathematics behind M. C. Escher's Tessellations
Description
This presentation will illuminate the geometry behind M. C. Escher's iconic tessellations. We will explore angles to see why some regular polygons tessellate the plane and show how Escher used transformations to create modified polygons to tessellate. Finally, we will challenge participants to reveal the mathematical secrets of actual Escher images.
