It Makes Sense! Using the Rekenrek to Build Number Sense

In this session you will learn an instructional sequence, using the rekenrek, to build students' number sense, numerical reasoning and fluency. Discover how students advance their mathematical thinking over time, at first reasoning with the concrete use of the rekenrek, then with mental imagery, and eventually with bare number tasks.
