Area Is More Than Length Times Width

An exploration of the mathematics underlying the notion of area: Area will be discussed as a measure and as a function. The familiar formulas for the areas of polygons will be investigated and extended to the areas of more complex polygons. Both familiar and unfamiliar formulas for the area of a circle will be examined.
