Making Sense of Rational Number Division through Modeling
Description
Frequently, students learn an algorithm "just because" that's how it's done. This session is intended to empower teachers, through the use of an area model, to resolve questions such as, "Why is the quotient sometimes larger than the divisor?" Bring your student questions regarding rational number division; let's resolve those mysteries too!
