Around the World in Nine Problems: Global Scenarios to Promote Inquiry-Based Problem Solving

Description

How can we build classrooms in which mathematics does have a connection to "the real world?" We will consider cultural phenomena and contemporary issues in places like Syria and Ghana and show how students' questions about them can lay the groundwork for interesting problems for topics in algebra, geometry, and calculus.
