The language of schooling seems to dictate the ranking, comparing, and ordering of children. Words such as low, high, level, tier, are ubiquitous in school. This language can creep into teacher practice, into our questions, the tasks we choose, the language we use, the expectations we hold. We will explore connections in language use and learning.
