Culturally Relevant Mathematics Teaching, Identity, and Disrupting Inequitable Opportunities to Learn
Description
This session highlights the merits of culturally relevant mathematics teaching (CRMT) and, despite its long existence, casts CRMT as a promising way forward to disrupt stubborn inequities. Vignettes of teachers conceptualizing and enacting CRMT will be shared and analyzed with respect to the development of students' mathematics identities.
