Connecting Proportions and Algebra in the Middle Grades through Models and Language

Description

This session will focus using visual representations such as the bar model with proportional situations can help students make sense of algebraic generalizations and equations. Time will be spent discussing how visual models can also support our students in using mathematical language. Specific classroom tasks and student work will be shared.
