The Unhidden Figures: Inspiring Narratives and Challenging Mathematics Activities to Engage Students

Description

The session will introduce positive narratives of African American women in mathematics. Research shows that positive narratives and having role models can have a big impact on helping students see themselves as mathematicians. Participants will discuss the biographies and engage in challenging math activities from the book Women Who Count.
