Division of Whole Numbers: A Concrete-Pictorial- Abstract Progression
Description
Teaching and learning division with meaning is challenging for both teachers and students. We will present a concrete-pictorial-abstract sequence that begins with concrete experiences with Digi-Blocks, followed by a place-value method for recording division pictorially, and finally culminating with the scaffolding algorithm for division.
